We are looking for volunteers in Harleston and the surrounding area that can spend time with individuals who may be experiencing social isolation for a variety of reasons. We offer a face-to-face Befriending Service in which volunteers arrange a regular date and time to meet with a service user, this can be in the client’s home or elsewhere; for example, a café or public space.

Purpose of the role:

To befriend people over the age of 18, to improve their self-confidence, emotional health and wellbeing, reduce social isolation and promote independence.

Experience, attributes and/or qualifications required:

We require volunteers:

· Aged 18 or over.

· Interested in working with the people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds.

· Prepared to commit some of their time (minimum 1 hour per week).

· Prepared to have fun and participate in outings and activities.

· Attend induction training session prior to commencing Befriending.

· Attend regular support and supervision meetings and on going training

Times/days when we would like you to be available:

We would like you to commit to spending a minimum of one hour a week with a befriendee. This would be a flexible time that is suitable for you both. You can, of course, commit more time if you wish.
