Summary

St Martins has a vacancy for a Retail Volunteer based at our charity shop in Anglia Square. We are looking for volunteers who are confident and adaptable.

Detailed description

Supporting Tasks

To support the RDO to:

·       Organise and delegate daily tasks for the team prioritising those that could impact on the health and safety of the team and members of the public.

·       Ensure a minimum team of 2 team members are on site and arrange cover where necessary by contacting appropriate team members including management team if required.

·       Ensure each member of the team works to their strengths and builds on their weaknesses by learning and working together.

·       Complete necessary administrative tasks as required.


To shoppers:

·       Engage with shoppers about St Martins work and donation/voluntary opportunities

·       Support to find specific items and sizes

·       Support to keep safe within the shop

·       Assist in evacuations (fire or emergency)

Person specification:

·       Ability to lead by example, within St Martins’ policies and procedures

·       Good numeracy and literacy skills

·       A willingness to learn.

·       A desire to provide judgement free services to the people we support.

·       Good communication skills

·       Ability to understand issues from other people’s point of view.

  • An understanding of professional boundaries and the importance of confidentiality
  • Basic computer skills – Word and Excel
  • Confidence in dealing with money at the till and when cashing-up
  • Confident, adaptable and conscientious

·       Service specific delivered by Head of Life Skills and Retail Development Officer
