Volunteering Opportunities
Based in the village of Eaton (NR4 6NN), we run a thriving Scout group for young people aged 6 to 14 years of age. We are currently looking for volunteers to join us in a variety of roles. You may have skills that you could bring to our small Board of Trustees. Or maybe you were once a Scout or Guide and would like to offer your life skills as a volunteer working with our young people.
Whether you are a skilled tradesperson, working in an education setting, a member of the emergency services, an experienced fundraiser, tending your own allotment, raising your own family or looking after grandchildren, we have a role within our Team of Volunteers that would suit you!
Volunteer Team Members (working with young people aged 6 to 14 years)
As a volunteer team member you would be working with like-minded people helping young people learn a range of skills like cooking, DIY, arts and crafts or teamworking. Our 3 Sections meet weekday evenings (Monday, Thursday, Friday) and the occasional weekend when we offer camps or adventurous activities. The hours are very flexible, usually in the early evening and we offer a variety of age ranges (Beavers 6-8 years; Cubs 8-10½; Scouts 10½-14). If you can’t do every week that’s fine; we are very flexible.
To be part of Scouting, you do not need any specialist skills or training; however, we do offer easy online training as well as Emergency Aid training and a DBS check.
Volunteering is good for your wellbeing and helps our young people make memories and new friends. If you can tick just one thing from the above, then a role in Scouting could be just the thing for you! Volunteering in any role within Scouting will help us to offer young people a “Place to Belong” while also giving them the “Skills for Life” to further develop in future training or employment.
What do Volunteers Team Members do?

Trustee Board Volunteers
Would you be interested in knowing more about our Trustee Board? The Trustee Board is a team of volunteers who work together, as charity trustees, to make sure Scouts is run safely and legally. At the heart of their role is a focus on strategy, performance and assurance. Effective Trustee Board governance helps our volunteers deliver exciting programmes that give young people a "Place to Belong" and "Skills for Life".
Following our recent AGM we currently have a full Board of Trustees but there could be an opportunity to Co-Opt someone with specialist skills. Our Trustees meet 5-6 times per year to discuss matters relating to finance, governance and premises, activity safety and Risk Management in addition to social events and fundraising activities! We are a friendly group of volunteers that care not only about the young people in our Group but also our premises and the local community.
Scouting offers Trustee board members a chance to build valuable leadership, governance, and charity management skills while supporting youth development. As a Trustee you can:

Our Scout Group provides opportunities for adults working with young people from 6 to 14 years of age. We offer a variety of adventurous activities helping young people learn a range of skills including cooking, DIY, arts and crafts, teamworking and physical activities including climbing and pioneering. Our 3 Sections meet weekday evenings during school terms and the occasional weekends where we offer camps or outdoor activities. We also have a Trustee Board and we would be keen to speak with new adults with experience of working in a variety of roles who may be interested in joining our current Trustees. We offer a variety of training, including Emergency Aid, and a DBS check to all adults over 18 who volunteer in Scouting. Volunteering in any role within Scouting will help us to offer more young people a “Place to Belong” whilst also giving them the “Skills for Life” to take forward into their further education or employment.
