Campaigns and events

A Million Acts of Hope

During May 2026, Voluntary Norfolk will be taking part in the national campaign A Million Acts of Hope. The campaign celebrates the millions of people across Britain who support their neighbours and communities every day, helping to create more welcoming and connected places. We would love to showcase the incredible work happening across Norfolk by sharing real stories, examples, and moments of kindness that reflect this spirit of community.

We invite you to get involved by sharing with us your own examples of support, volunteering, or community action. These can be big or small – every act of hope helps build a fuller picture of the positive impact taking place across our county.

If you would like to contribute, please send us a short description (up to 100 words), photos (if available), or any relevant details by Wednesday 6 May to communities@voluntarynorfolk.org.uk

You might like to tell us about:

  • A moment when your community came together
  • A simple action that had a positive impact
  • A recent act of kindness you’ve seen or been part of
  • A volunteer who supports their community with compassion

Selected stories will be shared across Voluntary Norfolk’s social media channels between 13-20 May.

Dozens of people joined in, collecting litter, planting flowers, and chatting with neighbours they hadn’t met before. It created a real sense of pride and connection in our community, and we’re now planning to make it a regular event. It was great to see how a simple idea could bring people together and make a lasting difference.” Selected stories will be shared across Voluntary Norfolk’s social media channels between 13-20 May . Thank you for the vital role you play in supporting our communities. We look forward to celebrating your work as part of this campaign. You can find out more about A Million Acts of Hope here .

Trustees, Board Members & Non-Executive Directors online event

Empowering Communities Partners Voluntary Norfolk, FUSE Network and Community Action Norfolk (CAN) present: Trustees, Board Members & Non-Executive Directors online event Thursday 21 st May 6:30pm – 8pm online This latest Trustees, Board Members & NEDs event gives a chance to hear from speakers, network and connect with others and ask questions. Are you a Trustee/Board member/Non-Executive Director (NED) for a Norfolk charity, group or social enterprise? Join us for an online networking event! Following on from successful online and in person meet up events last year we are back with on online event for Trustees, Board Members and Non-Executive Directors. Trustees of charities and directors of social enterprises play a crucial role in steering and supporting thousands of not-for-profit organisations across Norfolk. It can be a tricky role; shouldering legal and financial responsibilities, overseeing the work of staff and volunteers, keeping the organisation true to its mission to deliver specific public benefit, and very often pitching in to help with that delivery. On Thursday 21st May 2026 Empowering Communities Partners Voluntary Norfolk , FUSE Network and Community Action Norfolk (CAN) will host an online networking event for Trustees, Board members and NEDs to engage in conversations about some of the main challenges they face and to seek advice from others in similar situations. Coming together to share challenges and learn from one another is an effective way to problem solve and pick up useful tips. The event will include short talks/presentations from speakers in the Trustees/Board member/ NED world sharing their own experiences. We will then have time for some discussions, finishing with a summary and Q & A session. There will be a chance to connect with fellow attendees. When booking you will be asked to put down your top 3 issues currently as a Trustee/Board Member/NED which will also help to shape discussions. If you would like to join, register for a free place !
