We are currently looking to recruit a volunteer mentor (called Independent Visitors or IVs) for a young person based in Norfolk (area surrounding Norwich). To meet the specific needs for the young person, we encourage male candidates to apply.
Our IVs are there to develop a long-term friendship with a young person, meeting at least once a month, to give them an opportunity to access hobbies and interests, gain independence skills and generally have a fun day out. Purpose:
- To visit, advise and befriend a young person who is looked after by the care system.
- To enable a young person to have contact with someone who is independent of the social services department, education system, health department, etc.
- To provide an “adult friend” for a young person who may have little or no contact with members of his/her own family.
Requirements:
- Subject to Enhanced DBS / References needed
- No particular qualification needed! – we just need you to be resilient, committed and have a genuine interest in the welfare of young people!
- Ideally, you need to be a driver with a car and valid driving license
