Summary

We're looking for a volunteer to support our monthly Arty Party session at Buxton Lodge.

Detailed description

Age UK Norwich offer a variety of Clubs and Community Trips for those 50+ living throughout Norwich including Arty Party.

 

We host a monthly Arts and Crafts club which is all basic level and features a different activity each session. Clients are given the opportunity to express their creativity as well as interact with others to support social interaction to boost well-being.


We are looking for volunteers to help support our art and craft sessions at Buxton Lodge. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in working with people in the community and for those who would like to help encourage social interaction in a fun and supportive environment. Knowledge and experience gained through this opportunity may be transferable for those looking to develop a career in community support, coaching and care.


RESPONSIBLITIES

 

We are looking for volunteers to really take ownership and support clubs to develop and thrive.

 

As an Arty Party volunteer, you will be asked to welcome clients, encourage participation and engage in conversation with clients, their friends and families. You will also be asked to support our Community Outreach Officer to set up the venue before the session starts, which will include arranging tables, chairs and setting up materials.

 

You will need to be enthusiastic, welcoming and empathetic to help clients feel comfortable about participating. You must also be sensitive to the personal background and life experiences of all our clients, be aware of the importance of data protection, and treat every participant with respect. A volunteer with a creative background would be desirable.

 

You will communicate with Age UK Norwich on a regular basis and inform us of any concerns or issues with any of the older people. You will have a dedicated contact to support you while you volunteer with us.

 

This volunteer role is expected to take up 2/3 to hours per month.
