Ride volunteers focus on giving individuals the skills, knowledge, & confidence to enjoy an organised session & encourages the client with benefits from cycling

Ride volunteers are directed by the Ride Leader, checking and mobilising cycling equipment, and are good communicators, able to interact with and encourage clients whatever their ability, to enjoy safe cycling routes. Training is provided on a range of cycles, many adapted types, including how to put the client at ease and adjust the equipment to suit their needs. You do not need specific knowledge of disabilities to work with our clients, and support and direction will be provided.

Skills:

Able to create a supportive environment and communicate clearly, building & maintaining effective relationships. Provide motivation to help participants achieve their goals. Listens to participants to understand their strengths/weaknesses & what they want to achieve.  Able to assess the cycles to highlight those that are safe to use/fit for purpose (following training).

Qualities:

Approachable & friendly, with great interpersonal & communication skills. You will have honesty & integrity (dealing with client needs and details). Although some cycling experience is desirable, this is not necessarily needed as training is given for our gentle paced rides. You will have patience & an inclusive approach to engagement, reliability & punctuality, and possess good organisational skills & initiative.
