Trustees ensure that we pursue our stated purposes defined in charity governing documents. Help develop a long-term strategy & leads in agreed areas.

All Trustees safeguard the good name and values of the organisation. Qualities include ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the organisation. This includes governance, financial stability of the organisation, identifying risks (& their mitigation), protecting and managing the property of the charity and ensuring the charity’s funds are directed properly. Trustees attend and contribute to meetings of the board as relevant, and undertake agreed tasks between meetings, upholding any policies and procedures relevant to the trustee role including confidentiality, health & safety, safeguarding, data protection, assuring equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Trustees act as an ambassador and champion for BANS at events and online and only represent the board’s agreed position when speaking publicly on behalf of BANS.

As well as understanding the legal responsibilities of Trustees, they will have an ability to work effectively as a member of a team, willingness to take ownership of issues and initiatives, leading groups and projects as required. They will creatively consider and highlight fundraising, volunteer recruitment and client

engagement opportunities.

Trustees will embrace a commitment to the seven principles of public life:

● selflessness

● integrity

● objectivity

● accountability
