Are you..
- Hands-on and like to get stuck in with practical activities?
- Eager to make a difference to others but unable to commit to a regular volunteering opportunity?
If so, we need you on our camp build crew.
What you will be doing
- Unloading the lorry with our equipment; raising marquees, camping areas; prepping equipment like lanterns and torches etc;
- other tasks that ensure the campsite is safe and welcoming before the campers arrival.
There is the option to camp overnight, with camping equipment provided if you can assist for more than one day. Transport expenses, food and drink will be provided. We will be leaving the site before any campers arrive.
We will have a large list of tasks to complete but in a laid back environment while enjoying being outdoors and the camping experience. We'll also enjoy a large campfire in the evenings (weather permitting!), and food and drink will be provided.
Skills
Can do attitude, and you must be comfortable with physical activities including lifting and carrying in a field environment, with porta-loo facilities.
Enjoy being outdoors and camping.
Enjoy practical work, organising and sorting.
Benefit to you
Confidence with campsite equipment, construction and camping.
Satisfaction from a hard day of physical activity outdoors knowing it will make it possible for children to have a holiday they wouldn't otherwise get.
Enjoy a large campfire and other camp activities in a private camping environment by beautiful Cromer.
Meeting others and working as part of a team to complete a list of tasks.
How you will benefit others:
The children benefit from a fun week out of London, enjoying the outdoor camping experience and attending a variety of activities local to Norfolk. For many this is both their first time away from home as well as camping, so your role is essential to ensuring this is a comfortable, safe and welcoming environment for them to stay in, and ensuring the camp staff have everything they need to run a fun and successful camp.
You will also be contributing to a week of downtime for many of the households; for some caregivers this will be their first week having time out of caregiving.
What we will provide to volunteers
