Summary

Provide digital skills coaching to carers to help them learn how to use a device. Support can be flexible based on the needs and availability of both parties.

Detailed description

Many carers and those they care for struggle with digital technology. This may be due to underlying health conditions, a lack of knowledge or training or simply a fear of using available technology.

CMN Digital Inclusion Support Volunteers provide one to one support, tailored to the individual, for a set period of time. This can be over the telephone, outside (weather permitting), in a group, café or community setting, or, subject to a satisfactory risk assessment, in the client’s own home and can use the client’s own smart phone, computer, tablet or loaned equipment. Our volunteers provide a friendly face and a patient support mechanism to help the client learn about digital opportunities and pursue their personal digital goals no matter how simple.

An understanding of digital technology and basic digital tasks (eg. creating and sending emails) is required, but extensive knowledge is not required.

This role can be conducted face-to-face or remotely, in a public place or at the carer's address.

We're always looking for passionate volunteers to join our existing team, and would love to hear from you!

About Carers Matter Norfolk

Carers Matter Norfolk (CMN) is a partnership funded by Norfolk County Council and Norfolk Clinical Commissioning Group, lead by Bridges Outcome Partnership, a not-for-profit social enterprise, to provide tailored support services to meet the individual needs of unpaid adult carers. The service offers a free Advice Line, carers breaks, a highly skilled and knowledgeable team of Family Care Practitioners delivering Carer Assessments and practical support and a team of volunteers that deliver one-to-one and group wellbeing care and information in the community.

Carers Matter Norfolk aims to help the thousands of unpaid carers throughout Norfolk. The support provided can vary depending on the individual and their needs.

The role of the volunteer within Carers Matter Norfolk is highly important as it provides a friendly face for carers to engage and build relationships with outside of their family circles. Volunteers can assist with a variety of tasks, such as providing coaching and mentoring for using digital technology, help to build confidence and participate in community events and help to facilitate local carer support groups.

Carers Matter Norfolk is dedicated to developing its volunteers throughout their time with the organisation, and personal development opportunities are available to everyone.
