Summary
Provide 1:1 support to a carer to help boost their confidence and independence. Support can be flexible based on the needs and availability of both parties.Detailed description
Many carers and those they care for struggle with isolation and loneliness. Their caring role may take up a large portion of their time and therefore be unable to undertake hobbies or social activities.
CMN Step Down Support Volunteers provide one to one support, tailored to the individual, for a set period of time (usually 3-6 months). This can be over the telephone, outside (weather permitting), at a café or community setting or, subject to a satisfactory risk assessment and approval from the Volunteer Coordinator, in the client’s own home (or even a mix of all of the above). Our volunteers provide a friendly face and a listening ear to those in need.
The aim of this role is to achieve a specific end goal, such as reconnecting with a community, engaging in a forgotten hobby or helping the carer to learn to make time for themselves.
This role can be conducted face-to-face or remotely, in a public place or at the carer's address.
We're always looking for passionate volunteers to join our existing team and we would love to hear from you!
