Summary
We are looking for creative, caring and dedicated people from all walks of life to join our Board of Trustees.Detailed description
‘Since becoming a Trustee at the beginning of the year, I have been able to use my experience as a Director of another local charity to support the aims of CCN. The role of the trustee gives you the exposure to all aspects of charity governance and so has allowed me to develop my knowledge and skills as part of my professional development. It is a fulfilling and worthwhile opportunity"
Jo Gillies-Wheatley , CCN Trustee
Community Chaplinacy Norfolk (CCN) is a small, vibrant charity supporting people who have been in prison to rebuild their lives in the community. We are looking for creative, caring and dedicated people from all walks of life to join our board of trustees. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and develop a growing charity and make a real difference in the lives of the people we support.
Community is at the heart of CCN, and we value the input of each trustee, volunteer, beneficiary and member of staff as part of our CCN family. Becoming a CCN trustee is a fantastic professional development opportunity, offering hands on experience in all aspects of governing a small charity. Our board is friendly and inclusive, and we can accommodate the needs of trustees who work full-time or have caring commitments.
We are particularly interested in meeting potential trustees with knowledge of the criminal justice system, and of marketing and social media, who can share their skills and passion with our team.
We expect trustees to commit around 8 hours per month to the role. Much of this can be done flexibly from home, although we ask that all trustees attend an in-person board meeting once every two months, as well as an annual meeting and a strategy day each year. Most trustees serve 3 – 5 years, but we ask for a minimum commitment of 2 years.
A Trustee has particular duties summarised by the Charity Commission as:
1. Ensuring that CCN is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit;
2. Complying with CCN’s constitution and with the law;
3. Acting in the best interests of CCN;
4. Managing the resources of CCN responsibly;
5. Acting with reasonable care and skill; and
6. Ensuring that CCN is accountable.
If you are interested in becoming a trustee, please get in touch. The CCN manager and a current trustee will contact you to arrange an initial chat, and invite you to sit in on an upcoming trustee meeting to get a taste for how we work.
