Exercise class volunteers support the Cardiac Rehabilitation team at East Coast Community Healthcare (ECCH) to deliver group exercises sessions at Mill Lane Community Centre in Bradwell.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting up the equipment required for an exercise session. This includes moving weights, chairs, tables and putting up information posters around the room, as directed by staff
- Welcoming patients arriving for the class. Answering the door and directing patients where to go on their arrival.
- Helping to motivate and reassure participants during the class
- Helping staff with admin tasks such as collecting feedback questionnaires
- Reporting any faulty equipment or venue hazards to staff
- Tidying away equipment and resources at the end of the sessions.
- Cleaning equipment with disinfectant wipes to maintain infection control
The role is based at Mill Lane Community Centre in Bradwell, NR31 8HS. The shift is on Tuesdays between 9.45am-12.45pm. Time off for holidays and other commitments is fine.
This opportunity will suit someone who is physically well and mobile enough to undertake manual handling tasks safely and who has a friendly and approachable manner. Training will be provided. You don't need any previous experience in healthcare environment. You will need the ability to follow instructions and guidance from staff and to inspire trust and confidence by being reliable and punctual.
You will be required to attend a half day training session in Lowestoft prior to starting. You will need to provide 2 character references (not family members). This role requires a standard DBS check (at no cost to you). If you have previous convictions these will not necessarily prevent you from volunteering and we would still welcome your application. We assess any criminal record disclosures on a case by case basis and you will be supported through the application process by a volunteer coordinator.
Volunteers can claim public transport costs or up to 20 miles per volunteering session when driving to the site.
