Detailed description
Ward Volunteers provide companionship and support to patients on the ward at Carlton Court Hospital. The role focuses on giving patients the opportunity to have a friendly chat and encouraging them to engage in light activity to support their rehabilitation.
Shifts are available 7 days a week (subject to availability) with a suggested commitment of 2-3 hours at a regular agreed time. Fortnightly sessions can also be discussed if preferred. Shifts will take place between 10am - 4pm.
Tasks may vary from session to session depending on the needs of the team and the patients, but are likely to include:

- Sitting with them in the Day Room or garden area.
- Encouraging patients to do their physiotherapy exercises.
- Helping with the drinks round or handing out meals.
- Providing practical support to Ward staff if required. This may include completing forms with patients, handing out menus, fetching stock and small admin tasks.
- Reporting any concerns you have about patients to a member of staff without delay.
To volunteer in this role you will be required to undertake a morning's mandatory induction training (held in Lowestoft). This role also requires a standard DBS check and two character references. We welcome all applicants and a previous conviction may not necessarily prevent you from volunteering.
