Detailed description

Volunteers at Emerging Futures support the team at their offices in Barton Way and online to provide a friendly, welcoming abstinence service to clients and previous clients of Change, Grow, Live (CGL).


Emerging Futures in Norwich are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic volunteer to join the team based at Barton Way, supporting the THRIVE abstinent community group.


There is no requirement to have lived experience or knowledge of the drug and alcohol recovery community.


Our team of volunteers:

·       Are committed and reliable

·       provide a friendly welcome to all THRIVE attendees

·       retain a register of attendees

·       are able to engage attendees and lead the group to discuss their abstinence journey

·       will discuss recovery themes and keywords within the group

·       onward report any risk or safeguarding concerns to the Service Manager

·       for the online group, open up the Zoom meeting and manage the waiting room

·       work Tuesday and Thursday evenings from approximately 5.30pm-8pm.


Volunteers are given training and support to fulfil their role and will work with other volunteers or staff members. All candidates must be over 18 years old and the role is subject to a satisfactory DBS check and two references. This role may suit a retired professional wishing to provide support within their community.
