We’re looking for a highly organised and reliable volunteer to support our Board of Trustees as a Secretary.
Volunteer Role: Trustee Secretary
Time commitment: A few hours a month
About Feathers Futures
Feathers Futures is an open door space for women to come as they are. No judgement, no pressure, just a safe, welcoming place where women support women.
Everything we do is built around Listen, Trust, Dedicated, Supportive and Community. We see women every day who are dealing with trauma, isolation, financial hardship and poor mental health, and we create a space where they feel valued, heard and part of something.
About the role
We’re looking for someone organised, steady and reliable to support our Board of Trustees as a Secretary. This role sits quietly in the background but makes a huge difference, helping us stay organised, keep track of decisions, and make sure things don’t get lost.
You’ll work alongside me and the Chair to keep everything running as it should, so the board can focus on supporting the charity and the women we work with.
What you’ll be doing
- Pulling together papers for trustee meetings
- Helping shape agendas with the Chair and CEO
- Taking clear, straightforward minutes
- Keeping track of actions so nothing slips
- Keeping records organised and easy to find
- Supporting us to stay on top of governance and compliance
- Linking in with staff where needed to gather information
What we’re looking for
- Someone naturally organised who likes things in order
- Good attention to detail without overcomplicating things
- Able to listen, summarise and write things clearly
- Reliable and able to keep things confidential
- Comfortable working alongside a small, busy team
- Someone who gets what we’re about and wants to be part of it
What you’ll get
- A real sense of being part of something that matters
- Insight into how a charity is run behind the scenes
- A supportive, down to earth team
- Flexibility to fit around your life
It’s only a few hours a month, but it plays a really important role in keeping Feathers running well.
