Summary

As a Surplus Food Collection volunteer you’ll be collecting food donations from around the city to be cooked for our meal!

Detailed description

Drive to different supermarkets and stores around the city to collect food that would have gone to waste! Our Food Collectors ensure that we have lots of food so that we can put on our community meal. You will need a valid drivers license and an empty boot to fill up with food!

Every Friday 13:30 until 15:45pm

We are FoodCycle, and our vision is to make food poverty, loneliness and food waste a thing of the past for every community.

We connect communities, reducing loneliness and food poverty by creating welcoming spaces for people from all walks of life to meet, eat and have great conversations.

Each Project is run by a team of lead volunteers called Project Leaders, who ensure the smooth running of the FoodCycle meal each week.

What to expect from FoodCycle:

✓ Ongoing support and advice from a FoodCycle Project Leader before each collection.

✓ Expenses, including mileage, covered in line with our volunteer policy.

✓ Free online training modules, including food safety and allergens.

✓ The opportunity to take on additional tasks/responsibilities.

✓ The opportunity to meet a community of like-minded people.

✓ A fun volunteer experience within a community-led Project.

About FoodCycle Norwich

We are FoodCycle, and our vision is to make food poverty, loneliness and food waste a thing of the past for every community. With community dining, week in, week out we feed the hungry and give company to the lonely in our communities; providing delicious meals and great conversation, and using food which would otherwise go to waste.
