Summary

At Voluntary Norfolk we run a growing network of local voluntary & community organisations. We are looking for volunteers to help us run meetings & events.

Detailed description

What is the purpose of the role?

At Voluntary Norfolk we run a growing network of local voluntary and community organisations, including small charities, social enterprises and community groups. The Network was launched in April 2021 and over 250 people have signed up.

In December 2022 we held our first in-person networking event. Individuals from voluntary and community organisations of all sizes were invited to network and take part in discussion using an Open Space meeting format. Following the success of this event we are looking for Events Volunteers to help us facilitate future meetings.

This is a casual role and you will join a pool of volunteers who will be contacted when we organise an event.

What does the role entail?

·      Welcoming attendees & recording attendance

·      Potentially helping facilitate discussion in breakout groups, recording discussion points if needed

·      Assisting in the set up/take down of the event

What are my responsibilities?

·      Be polite and friendly, engaging with a wide range of people

·      Protect the security and confidentiality of personal data

·      To be a friendly and approachable ambassador for Voluntary Norfolk

·      To follow direction from Voluntary Norfolk staff

Do I need any qualifications or skills?

No, you do not need any formal qualifications however, you will need to be:

·      Confident at speaking with a wide range of individuals

·      Able to make notes, possibly typing up after the event

Support

All volunteers will be provided with an induction before starting in their role. You will be supported in your role by Tasha Cobb and Amelia Worley, the Networks & Events Coordinator and the Development Manager.

Days/times

This is a flexible role, once you have received an induction you can sign up to help out at as many events as you would like in future. Future event dates and locations are TBC, but will most likely be in the Norwich area. Voluntary Norfolk will provide reasonable travel expenses if you are travelling outside of Norwich to help at an event.

How do I become a Network Events Volunteer?

Please get in touch with Tasha (Networks & Events Coordinator) to express an interest in volunteering. We will then arrange to meet with you for an initial chat.
