To help run the weekly Jobs Club, offering information and support to jobseekers looking for employment, training or volunteering opportunities.Detailed description
We are looking for volunteers in Harleston and the surrounding area that can support our weekly Jobs Club which runs every Wednesday, 10am-2pm at Harleston Information Plus.
Tasks:
- To support jobseekers to access online services to help them to search and apply for work.
- Help to create CVs, covering letters and complete online job applications
- Provide tips and advice for job interviews
- Provide information on local training opportunities
- Signpost to other organisations for support such as Citizens Advice, DWP, Foodbank and South Norfolk Help Hub
- Provide a friendly, supportive and listening ear
Experience, attributes and/or qualifications required:
- Communication skills - good written and verbal communication skills along with excellent listening skills
- Computer literate in MS Word, internet and email
- Awareness of the importance of confidentiality
- An HR or recruitment background would be advantageous but not essential, as full training will be given
Times/days when we would like you to be available:
Wednesdays 9.30am-2pm or morning/afternoon shift (10am-12pm/12pm-2pm)

Harleston Information Plus (HIP), registered as charity in 2012 to improve quality of life for residents in Harleston and the surrounding parishes. Our aims are to enhance equality of opportunity for people who experience complex and enduring barriers to participation and wellbeing.
We support people who present with long-term health issues, additional physical support needs and challenges associated with rural poverty, economic inactivity, loneliness and social isolation, with an average footfall of over 6,500 presentations per annum.
We provide a range of services including community information support, jobs club, befriending service and support a wide range of initiatives such as the Waveney Foodbank and Mindful Towns and Villages.
We support people who present with long-term health issues, additional physical support needs and challenges associated with rural poverty, economic inactivity, loneliness and social isolation, with an average footfall of over 6,500 presentations per annum.
