Summary
Volunteers will help us to hand out leaflets, collect donations and thank donors for their support.Detailed description
Volunteers will help distribute leaflets and collect food donations at our local Tesco stores. We need people who are willing to stand in the store foyer with a friendly smile on their face and offer people a leaflet. The leaflets are a shopping list of our most needed items. When people return with the food, volunteers need to thank the donor and offer them a sticker or thankyou card. Food donations are then stacked neatly in a trolley which will be collectd by our Warehouse Team later in the day.
We usually have 3 people volunteering at the store, so this is a great activity for individuals who wish to volunteer with our regular food bank volunteers, or up to 3 people from a team or friend group. We do simultaneous food drives in two Tesco stores in King's Lynn (Gaywood and Hardwick), so if you have a team of 6 people they would be split between the two stores rather than being all together - if we have more than 3 volunteers in a store it clutters up the entrance and causes problems for the store.
Previously we have had both individual volunteers, and groups of volunteers - all are very welcome!
The Winter Food Collection is a key time for us to boost our stock levels, and as rising food prices have caused donations to drop, we have had to make regular bulk purchases of food at significant expense. The more volunteers we have to help with the Winter Food Collection, the more food donations we will receive. Last year we collected nearly 3 tonnes of food which went on to help over 300 local people.

About King's Lynn Foodbank
Our teams of volunteers work either in our warehouse sorting donations, or in our distribution centre packing food parcels, giving them to people who come to the foodbank and signposting people to further help.
