Summary

We are looking a volunteer to support Leeway NIDAS’s work in the community, raising the profile of NIDAS and supporting the work that we do.

Detailed description

Leeway (NIDAS) needs supporters of the charity who can raise awareness of domestic abuse, the profile of Leeway (NIDAS) and Leeway (NIDAS) events, in their local community, so more people can access the help and support they may desperately need.

We are looking for a volunteer that is confident, friendly and enthusiastic, to help us to promote our services, events and campaigns in the local community.

Tasks required

·      Getting people involved in our latest appeals and campaigns.

·      Supporting NIDAS at community events.

·      Supporting with the service user forum.

·      Supporting with administration i.e., sending out information to participants of the service user forum.

·      Attending events of interest with paid NIDAS team members to raise awareness of NIDAS.

Skills:

·      An enthusiastic and friendly approach

·      Confidence and professionalism in approaching and speaking to members of the public

·      Strong communication and organisational skills

·      Reliability and flexibility

·      Can stay calm and diffuse difficult situations

·      An optimistic outlook

·      A caring and non-judgemental nature

About Leeway Domestic Violence and Abuse Services

Leeway was established in 1974 with the help of a £200 start-up grant from Norwich City Council. Over the past four decades the charity has grown from those humble beginnings and we now have eight safe houses and a team of more than 50 people providing advice, support and information to any adult or child experiencing domestic abuse in Norfolk and Suffolk.
