A Volunteer Mentor plays a key role in supporting and guiding adolescent males (13-19), helping them to develop their skills, build confidence, and achieve their personal and professional goals. The mentor will work closely with a group of young people providing encouragement, and practical assistance as they engage in life and their own personal development. This will involve engaging in activities with 1-2 mentees each session, and engaging in structured conversations around masculinity.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Mentorship and Support
  • Build trusting relationships with mentees.
  • Offer emotional support, advice, reflection, and positive role modelling to help mentees navigate any challenges they may face
  1. Problem-Solving and Guidance
  • Address any issues or concerns raised by mentees in a supportive and constructive manner
  • Support mentees through conflicts or challenges, supporting healthy conflict resolution focused on harm reduction.
  1. Administrative and Reporting
  • Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of mentorship programme and provide feedback for improvement
  1. Safeguarding
  • Ensure well-being and safety of mentees during their participation, following all policies and procedures
  • Report any safeguarding concerns to the Finding May Way staff team and follow any required procedures
