A group to connect with others and look after the community gardens created in Mile Cross, from Civic Gardens to Sloughbottom Park.
The Mile Cross Projects and Events Groups is formed by local residents and organisations working in the area, a place to meet and share ideas, skills and resources. We look for ideas for events or projects expressed by anyone in the community, and help them to realise them. This is where the Green Hearts were born, a hyper local collaboration between organisations and residents, responding to the deisre for wanting to connect with and take care of nature on our doorstep, the group now has many sites to look after and are always looking for volunteers to help.
The sessions are on Tuesdays from 12 - 2pm, you are welcome to join for as long as you are able. If it is a quick lunch time escape or a 5 minute fly by, everyone is welcome.
We share the locations on our whatsapp community group but if this is not suitable for you then we send updates via email too. Taking the first step is the hardest, but there is always a big welcome and no pressure. Just turning up is enough, come get to know us and we are all learning from each other.
