The Boats Maintenance Manager is responsible for the maintenance of both boats, steam and electric. It will suit someone who has experience operating boats.

The Museum employs 2 part time members of staff and around 50 volunteers. It relies on its volunteers to open to the public to care for its collections and site and to operate its two trip boats. One boat is an historic steam launch, and the other, a modern, wheelchair accessible electric boat. The Boats Maintenance Manager is responsible for the maintenance of both boats. This role will suit someone who has experience operating boats, preferably passenger boats, can manage a team and is happy dealing with people. S/he is supported by and reports to the Trustee responsible for the boats, and the Curator. In addition, the Boats Maintenance Manager will work closely with the Boat Operations Manager, Museum Maintenance Manager, and the Curator, and is expected to attend monthly virtual meetings of the Operations Team. The role may include helming or acting as boat engineer when the Museum is open.
