Treasurer of The Museum of The Broads

The Museum is looking for someone to take on the role of Treasurer. This role sits as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Museum. The role would ideally suit someone with accountancy experience. This is a voluntary role.

Principal Function

To maintain an overview of the Museum’s financial affairs and to ensure that proper financial records and procedures are in place

Also to submit annual reports and accounts within required deadlines to Companies House and the Charity Commission

Duties

·           Oversee, approve and present budgets, accounts and financial statements

·           Ensure the Museum has an appropriate ‘Reserves’ policy

·           Ensure appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place

·           Liaise with the Operations Manager about financial matters

·           Ensure the existence of an appropriate investment policy

·           Ensure the Museum’s compliance with current legislation

·           Oversee the preparation and disclosure of the accounts in the form required by funders and relevant statutory bodies (eg HMRC, Charity Commission, Registrar of Companies)

·           If external scrutiny of accounts is required, ensure it is carried out in the proper manner and any recommendation implemented

·           Make a formal presentation of the accounts at the Annual General Meeting in a coherent and easily understood manner
