Summary

Our flagship Early Years music group has moved to the Norwich Arts Centre and we are looking for an energetic and dynamic volunteer to join the team.

Detailed description

The Monday group is a specialist Early Years provision that we have been running since the inception of the charity in 1990. This group was formed to support families and their children in the very early days of diagnosis.

Our person-centred approach to music making with very young children and babies can support their development in a number of ways, whilst providing a support network for families. The Monday group is deliberately small in numbers, so we can give the necessary attention to each participant.

We are delighted that earlier this year the Monday group moved to the Norwich Arts Centre, and as a result we are looking for a new volunteer to join this flagship project. The volunteer will play a vital role in the smooth running of the group and the support of participants and their families, and will be a great opportunity to build a close relationship with our music leader.

The main duties include:

  • The encouragement and guidance of participants, with particular attention to those less able to remain in the activity space
  • Supporting musical activities with singing, instrument playing (where possible) and gesture
  • The practical support of participants, for example through the sharing of instruments, aiding the holding of equipment, giving basic instruction and guidance
  • Supporting the collection of information for registration and monitoring purposes
  • To provide a compassionate and non-judgemental listening ear
  • Responsibility for ensuring safeguarding issues are managed in accordance with Musical Keys safeguarding policies and procedures.

We are looking for someone that is able to commit regularly to a Monday morning.

Mondays, Norwich Arts Centre, Norwich, 10:15 - 11:45

Please note that all voluntary positions are subject to a formal employment process, including references and employment history, and the completion of a DBS and appropriate safeguarding training.
