Summary

The N&N Hospitals Charity are looking for Volunteers to assist with a variety of tasks to support our continuing engagement with patients, staff and the public.

Detailed description

The N&N Hospitals Charity supports better care for NHS patients at the Norfolk & Norwich, Cromer & District and Jenny Lind Children’s Hospitals, thanks to donations, grants and gifts in wills.

We provide resources, over and above what the NHS must and should fund. Improving healthcare for present and future patients of the Trust, by funding innovation and research; development and wellbeing support for Trust staff; additional medical equipment; improvements to the hospital environment and the provision of resources to support patients.

We are required to follow the Fundraising Code of Practice, our own Policies, Guidelines and SOPs, particularly with regard to handling cash, receiving gifts in kind and ethical fundraising. We will provide further guidance to any volunteers about this relevant to the roles they are undertaking.

Over the last 2 years we have been building the Charity in terms of size and profile and volunteer support can play a vital role to support our continuing engagement with patients, staff and the wider public.

The Charity are happy to accommodate hours to suit individuals between 10am and 3pm Monday to Friday and, very occasional weekends, to assist with the following:

  • Logging Amazon parcels on Excel and distributing to the appropriate team across the Trust
  • Distributing our quarterly ‘Focus’ magazine around site to waiting areas, wards etc
  • Envelope stuffing for ‘Focus’ mailing list (once a quarter)
  • Laminating and putting up posters
  • Assisting with cash collections – this would always be with a member of the Charity Team
  • Selling raffle tickets across the site for our major appeals – taking payments in cash and by card
  • Supporting pop up stands (ie plant, craft and cake sales)
  • Supporting at events both on site at NNUH and Cromer and potentially off site such as Cromer Carnival, Royal Norfolk Show, Advance Care Plan Day etc.

We do, however, understand that some volunteers may not be comfortable with all of these tasks, and are sensitive to the fact that selling/encouraging donations is not for everyone.

If you feel that you are suited to this post, please pop us a message expressing your interest.
