The NNUH are looking for Volunteers to support the Trust in a variety of setting, and we are looking for volunteers who can assist in a busy environment and are resilient to the challenges of a hospital setting.
We welcome people who can support staff, patients and visitors with care, compassion, positivity and empathy.
As an NNUH volunteer, you can expect to be provided with full training and ongoing support in order to aid you in delivering a much valued and crucial service.
Outpatient Clinics
Volunteers in our outpatient areas cover a range of duties including welcoming patients and visitors and escorting them around departments, keeping waiting areas clean and tidy, stocking information leaflets, supporting housekeepers, relaying telephone messages, supporting staff with basic admin tasks, chatting to patients and visitors, running errands and making refreshments.
We currently have the following vacancies:
Radiology Outpatients:
- Monday morning (x1) and afternoon (x1)
- Tuesday morning (x1) and afternoon (x1)
- Wednedsay morning (x1)
- Thursday afternoon (x1)
- Friday afternoon (x1)
Weybourne Day Unit:
- Thursday morning (x1)
Ambulatory Procedure Unit:
- Tuesday 10am-2pm (x1)
Meet & Greet
Meet & Greet Volunteers support within the Hospital by assisting with wayfinding, escorting patients and other ad-hoc requests.
We currently require volunteers on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 8:30am and 4:00pm.
Reception
Reception volunteers cover our busy out-patient and Rouen Road reception areas, assisting with wayfinding, car park validation and general enquiries.
We currently have the following vacancies:
NNUH West & East Outpatient Receptions:
- Short notice ad-hoc cover (Monday-Friday 8/8:30am-12/12:30pm & 12/12:30pm-4/4:30pm)
Rouen Road Reception:
- Tuesday (hours between 8:30am and 4:30pm) (x1)
- Friday (hours between 8:30am and 4:30pm) (x1)
Bleep Buddies
Bleep Buddies respond to ad-hoc requests from internal hospital departments to assist with note running, pharmacy collections and other ad-hoc requests.
We currently have the following vacancies:
- Monday afternoon (x1)
- Tuesday afternoon (x1)
- Wednesday afternoon (x1)
- Friday afternoon (x1)
Administrative Offices
Our administration volunteers assist staff with filing, note running, photocopying and other basic administrative tasks.
Pharmacy
Volunteers within our busy Pharmacy assist with filling the robot with new stocks of medicines and delivering TTO’s and labelled/stock items back to the wards.
We currently have the following vacancies available from September 2024:

- Sunday
