Outpatient volunteers at the NNUH support staff, patients and visitors in a variety of ward areas, outpatient clinics/areas.

The NNUH are looking for Volunteers to support the Trust in a variety of setting, and we are looking for volunteers who can assist in a busy environment and are resilient to the challenges of a hospital setting.

 

We welcome people who can support staff, patients and visitors with care, compassion, positivity and empathy.

 

As an NNUH volunteer, you can expect to be provided with full training and ongoing support in order to aid you in delivering a much valued and crucial service.

 

Outpatient Clinics

Volunteers in our outpatient areas cover a range of duties including welcoming patients and visitors and escorting them around departments, keeping waiting areas clean and tidy, stocking information leaflets, supporting housekeepers, relaying telephone messages, supporting staff with basic admin tasks, chatting to patients and visitors, running errands and making refreshments.

We currently have the following vacancies:

Radiology Outpatients: 

  • Monday afternoon (x1)
  • Tuesday morning (x1)
  • Wednesday afternoon (x1)
  • Friday morning (x1) and afternoon (x1) 

Community Diagnostic Centre:

  • Monday morning (x1) and afternoon (x1)
  • Tuesday morning (x1) and afternoon (x1)
  • Wednesday morning (x1) and afternoon (x1)
  • Thursday morning (x1) and afternoon (x1)
  • Friday afternoon (x1)

Weybourne Day Unit:

Our volunteers support the staff in the unit by providing companionship and refreshments to patients, and their companions, whilst in the unit receiving scheduled haematology and oncology treatments as outpatients.  

  • Tuesday mid-morning - afternoon (x1)
  • Friday afternoon (x1)

Acute Oncology & Haematology Service:

Our volunteers support the staff in the department, based on the Hoveton Ward/Unit, by providing companionship and refreshments to patients, and their companions, whilst attending the service due to issues arising as a result of their cancer. 

  • Wednesday afternoon (x1)
  • Thursday morning (x1)
  • Friday afternoon (x1)

Rheumatology Clinic & Day Unit:

Our volunteers support the staff in the unit by providing companionship and refreshments to patients, and their companions, whilst in the unit receiving scheduled treatments as outpatients.  

  • Monday morning (x1) and afternoon (x1)
  • Tuesday morning (x1) and afternoon (x1)
  • Wednesday morning (x1) and afternoon (x1)
  • Thursday morning (x1) and afternoon (x1)
  • Friday morning (x1) and afternoon (x1)

If you feel that you are suited to any of these roles, please pop us a message expressing your interest. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept applications for outpatient clinic based volunteers under the age of 17.5 years old.
