Outpatient volunteers at the NNUH support staff, patients and visitors in a variety of ward areas, outpatient clinics/areas.
The NNUH are looking for Volunteers to support the Trust in a variety of setting, and we are looking for volunteers who can assist in a busy environment and are resilient to the challenges of a hospital setting.
We welcome people who can support staff, patients and visitors with care, compassion, positivity and empathy.
As an NNUH volunteer, you can expect to be provided with full training and ongoing support in order to aid you in delivering a much valued and crucial service.
Outpatient Clinics
Volunteers in our outpatient areas cover a range of duties including welcoming patients and visitors and escorting them around departments, keeping waiting areas clean and tidy, stocking information leaflets, supporting housekeepers, relaying telephone messages, supporting staff with basic admin tasks, chatting to patients and visitors, running errands and making refreshments.

Acute Oncology Service:

Reception
Reception volunteers cover our busy East & West Outpatient and East Inpatient reception areas, assisting with wayfinding, car park validation and general enquiries/information.
We currently have the following vacancies:
NNUH West & East Outpatient Receptions
- Short notice ad-hoc cover (Monday-Friday 8/8:30am-12/12:30pm & 12/12:30pm-4/4:30pm)
Community Hub (East Inpatient Reception Desk)
- Tuesday morning (8:30-12:30) x1 & afternoon (12:30-4:30)
- Wednesday morning (8:30-12:30)
- Friday morning (8:30-12:30) & afternoon (12:30-4:30)
Meet & Greet
Meet & Greet Volunteers support within the Hospital by assisting with wayfinding, escorting patients and other ad-hoc requests.
We currently require volunteers for 3-4 hours per shift on the following days:
- Mondays between 8am and 4/4:30pm
- Thursdays between 8:00am and 4/4:30pm
- Fridays between 1pm-4/4:30pm.
Bleep Buddies
Bleep Buddies respond to ad-hoc requests from internal hospital departments to assist with note running, pharmacy collections and other ad-hoc requests.
We currently have the following vacancies:
- Monday morning (x1) and afternoon (x1)
- Tuesday morning (x1) and afternoon (x1)
- Thursday morning (x1) and afternoon (x1)
