Summary

We are looking for Digital Champions to to help migrants visiting Costessey Library on a Tuesday afternoon from 3.30pm

Detailed description

Norfolk Library and Information Service has a core aim of supporting IT literacy. In order to support the work that we do in this area, we set up a volunteer role to help customers gain access to targeted support with basic IT queries.

Volunteers will help with basic IT queries. The types of queries will draw on the supporting materials provided on the Learn My Way website:

  • Getting online
  • Support with using e-mail
  • Safe online shopping
  • Looking for work online
  • Using online technology to connect with friends and family
  • Exploring social media

Volunteers are not expected to be an expert in all of these areas but the materials available on the Learn My Way website can be used to guide a customer through the subject and increase their knowledge and confidence in a selected area.

The sessions we are running at Costessey Library are specifically to support the migrant community in the area. For this reason we are also looking for volunteers who may have languages other than English such as Arabic, Pashto or Dari.
