Summary

We are looking for a volunteer to assist with our Everyday Living: Money Matters sessions held at Hunstanton Library. Sessions take place monthly.

Detailed description

Norfolk Library and Information Service are launching a new series of sessions to support people who are experiencing financial hardship. The sessions will be closely linked to work we have been doing to support people as part of our Know Your Neighbourhood project, run in partnership with Libraries Connected and Arts Council England. This project has aimed to reach three specific groups through activities run in libraries:

·      New parents

·      Those who have been recently bereaved

·      People who are looking for work

The Everyday Living: Money Matters sessions will be run alongside this offer to support anyone who is experiencing financial hardship and who would like to know more about the local services available to support them.

We are looking for empathetic volunteer who understand the impact that financial hardship can have on an individual or family. The sessions will be delivered by trained partners, but we need volunteers to help with making the sessions a success. The role includes:

·      Welcoming people to a session

·      Offering a drink (where these are provided)

·      Speaking to the person and letting them know how the session will run

·      Signposting other organisations that might be of interest

·      Promoting partners who will be joining us at the next sessions

The role is open to all who have good communications skills and who wish to help others. Volunteers will have the chance to complete Norfolk Volunteer Passport training through Voluntary Norfolk if they are keen to build their skills within the role. We will also provide training around the need for confidentiality in the role.
