Role Profile
Job Title: Community Champion Volunteer – Norfolk & Suffolk Victim Care Service
Place of Work: Office & Community-based
Hours of Work: Minimum of 4-8 hours per month
Reporting to: Partnerships & Inclusion Manager
Screening: Enhanced DBS check
We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds. No previous experience is needed, as full training and support will be provided.
We are particularly keen to hear from people connected to local communities, those with lived experience, and those able to help us reach seldom-heard groups across Norfolk and Suffolk.
Purpose of the Role
Community Champion Volunteers help NSVC raise awareness, strengthen community connections, and improve access to support for people affected by crime, including within their own communities.
This is a community-facing role. Volunteers do not provide direct support to service users but help people understand what support is available and how to access it.
Key Activities
- Represent NSVC at community events, awareness days, and outreach activities
- Share accurate information about how people can access support
- Engage with the public in a friendly, inclusive, and professional way
- Support event activity, such as setting up stands, distributing materials, and welcoming attendees
- Build awareness of NSVC within local communities, universities, colleges, grassroots groups, and networks
- Feedback community insights, including barriers to support, emerging needs, and gaps in awareness
- Support awareness campaigns, community initiatives, and appropriate engagement or social media content
- Contribute ideas to improve how NSVC engages with different communities
Role Boundaries
This role does not include direct emotional or casework support, follow-ups or check-ins with individuals, or handling personal/sensitive case information. Volunteers work within clear boundaries and under staff guidance.

Essential
- Friendly, approachable, reliable, and professional
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to engage respectfully with people from a wide range of backgrounds
- Interested in community engagement, inclusion, and raising awareness
- Understands confidentiality, safeguarding, and appropriate boundaries
Desirable
- Links to local communities, groups, or networks
- Experience of events, outreach, community work, or digital communications
- Interest in criminal justice, victim support, or social impact
- Community languages, cultural knowledge, or lived experience that supports inclusive engagement
Entry Requirements
To volunteer with NSVC, you must:
- Be aged 18 or over
- Take a non-judgmental, respectful approach
- Be willing to travel within Norfolk and/or Suffolk for community activities
- Be willing to complete relevant checks
