Every day there are people in North Lynn who struggle to make ends meet for various reasons including redundancy, unexpected bills, and the deepening cost of living crisis. North Lynn Food Hub is a social supermarket where local people can access healthy, nutritious food at greatly reduced prices. The hub also helps connect people to a range of wraparound services aimed at boosting self-confidence, improving mental health, and lifting people out of food poverty.
North Lynn Food Hub relies on the support of the local community through volunteering, food donations and fundraising. The food is donated by local businesses, supermarkets, and churches, as well as from a few national suppliers. Our customers come to us from the local community or are referred by frontline care professionals.
As a volunteer you can be involved with any part of the Food Hub. Volunteering roles include (but are not limited to) collecting donations, sorting the food, stocking shelves, welcoming members, serving customers, offering refreshments, signposting, and providing administrative support.
Our goal is to make the Food Hub a relaxed and friendly place, where volunteers and visitors feel welcome and safe.
