Community Café Volunteer
Purpose of the Role
Community Café Volunteers help create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued. They support the day-to-day running of the café while helping to reduce isolation, encourage community connections, and provide affordable food and drinks.
Main Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and create a friendly atmosphere.
- Prepare and serve drinks and simple food items.
- Operate the till and handle payments (where trained).
- Keep the café clean, tidy, and well-stocked.
- Wash dishes and maintain food hygiene standards.
- Support community lunches, events, and activities.
- Chat with visitors and help people feel included.
- Assist with setting up and clearing away before and after sessions.
- Follow health and safety, safeguarding, and food hygiene procedures.
- Work as part of a supportive volunteer team.
Skills and Qualities
- Friendly, approachable, and reliable.
- Good communication and listening skills.
- Enjoys working with people from all backgrounds.
- Willing to learn new skills.
- Able to work as part of a team.
