About the Lodge
Nestled beside the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, the new Priscilla Bacon Lodge is a peaceful and modern space dedicated to palliative care. With inpatient beds, a day unit, and a wellbeing centre, it also supports care in the community—helping people receive support in the comfort of their own homes. Building on over 40 years of compassionate service at the original Lodge, this new chapter continues a proud legacy of care across Norfolk.
Your Role
As a Reception Volunteer, you’ll be one of the first friendly faces people see when they arrive. Whether it’s a patient, a loved one, or a visitor, your warm welcome can make all the difference. You’ll help create a calm, reassuring atmosphere and guide people with kindness and confidence.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Offering a warm and friendly welcome to everyone who walks through the door
- Providing helpful information and gentle reassurance
- Logging enquiries and phone calls
- Directing patients and visitors to the right place
- Letting staff know when someone has arrived
- Answering and transferring phone calls
- Preparing admin packs
- Helping with laminating and photocopying

Priscilla Bacon Lodge has provided Specialist Palliative Care to people around Norfolk for over 40 years. The new Priscilla Bacon Lodge is home to a state-of-the-art palliative care unit. It has been built on an 8-acre site adjacent to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. Century Place Colney Norwich NR4 7YA. As well as inpatient beds, a day unit and a wellbeing centre, the Lodge is a hub for community-based services, enabling people to receive care in their own homes. The 8-acre site has given the unique opportunity of delivering the landscape, garden, formal gardens and a wildflower meadow.
