We are a small independent charity run primarily by volunteers. We are seeking a Treasurer with suitable financial monitoring and control experience.
Ideally the new trustee would live close enough to make regular visits. Board meetings on site are held quarterly and the current treasurer is on-site approximately fortnightly with most of the work being undertaken at home.
Forming part of an established and experienced Board of Trustees, the new Treasurer will undertake all aspects of financial control including budgeting, liaison with accountants, HMRC etc. Day to day book-keeping is undertaken by the museum's paid part-time assistant manager.
- We are looking for a finance professional ideally with an interest in heritage and military history, who would be able to monitor and control the museum's finances.
- Regular communication to the Board with monthly updates and performance against budget using the Quickbooks accounting system. Ideally experienced in the use of Quickbooks or a similar accounting system.
- Ideally the applicant should live in the local area Norwich/ Norfolk Broads and therefore able to make regular visits to understand the day to day working of the museum and get to know some of the key volunteers.
It is the existing Treasurer's intention to retire within the next 12 months and therefore an overlap period will be possible.
The museum has a successful financial record and is on a sound financial footing thanks to careful management in the past. The new treasurer will be required to ensure continued financial success, help to plan further investment strategy of out reserves to support our plans for upgrading and updating our existing museum offering.
Our recruitment process for this role will be flexible and by mutual agreement regarding initial meetings.

About RAF Air Defence Radar Museum
The RAF Air Defence Radar Museum tells the story RAF Neatishead, the development of radar technology and how the RAF used this to defend the UK during WW2, through the Cold War to the present day. Our award winning museum is almost entirely manned by volunteers - from the presentations given daily in our Cold War operations room, to the Crumbs cafe team and our welcoming team in reception.
