Summary
Volunteer Walk Leaders and Assistants in Norwich, Broadland, South Norfolk and parts of North Norfolk.Detailed description
We are looking to recruit a number of Volunteer Walk Leaders and Assistants to join our existing team to lead and assist on short wellbeing walks of up to 4.5 miles in length. Our training course will be run a little later in 2023, when we have enough participants for it to go ahead.
What sort of people are we looking for?
You will be good with people, empathetic and happy to provide support for our walkers. You'll also need to be reasonably fit and, for the leader roles, able to follow a map and walk instructions.
What’s involved?
There’s a half day classroom-based session and practical exercises shadowing a current Walk Leader and leading with support. Only when you feel you are ready, will you start to lead.
What do I get from it?
On a practical level, you will get a hi viz vest, whistle, name badge and a certificate. More importantly, you will have the satisfaction of helping with the physical fitness and mental wellbeing of our walkers.
But I’d be happier assisting rather than leading?
That’s fine. There is now an official ‘Volunteer Walk Assistant’ role. The training is very similar, but when you have finished the training, you would not be expected to lead walks, just assist on them.
How do I sign up?
As a first step, we like new volunteers to join us on one of our walks to get a feel for what we do.
