Summary

We are currently looking for a new non-executive director for the board of our social enterprise, focused on addressing long-term unemployment at its roots.

Detailed description

This is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative and impactful social start-up on its growth journey.

About the role

We are looking for a non-executive director to join our board and help us shape the development of our young social enterprise.

Main duties of the role include guiding the companies' strategic direction, help with fundraising, business development and partnership building, and providing guidance to ensure that the organisation exercises its functions effectively and economically.

Tasks include participating in and contributing to quarterly board meetings, contributing to the development of strategy documents, occasionally representing the organisation at official occasions.

We are looking for people with experience and insights in business development and recruitment. We are also welcoming applicants with lived experience of long-term unemployment, and/or relevant experience in the public or non-profit sector. More than one position may be available.

Commitment: Approx. 8 days / year (on average 1 hr/week) for 1 year, with possibility of extension upon mutual agreement.

This is a voluntary role. All expenses will be covered.

About Us

Rippleacts is a Norwich-based social enterprise founded in 2021. We work with long-term unemployed people who wish to make a positive change to their lives. Following an evidence-based approach, we help our participants to overcome deeply ingrained personal barriers, improve their confidence and wellbeing, reduce fears and get back to work step by step.

We do this with a combination of holistic cognitive-behavioural group coaching, pro bono project work and peer-mentoring. As part of this journey, we support local charities with small hands-on projects, helping our clients unlock their skills for the benefit of their local community. In doing so, we create a chain of far-reaching positive ripple effects. You can read more about our impact on our website.

We are a small but impactful start-up looking to take the next steps to grow and become commercially sustainable. All our work is strongly driven by our values of purpose, development, empathy, authenticity and connection. We are passionate about social impact and capture ours in a robust and comprehensive manner in order to be accountable and keep learning and improving.

If the above resonates with you and you would like to join our journey, we would love to hear from you.
