Help us at the Sandringham Half Marathon!

Volunteer with Shelter at the Sandringham Half Marathon 2026

We need at least 2 volunteers to help steward the race. You will be volunteering for the event organiser, Good Running Events (GRE), on behalf of Shelter. Please see the information from GRE below:

  • Role: Volunteer Route Marshals are responsible for helping ensure the safe and successful delivery of the event by guiding and encouraging participants around the course.
  • Arrival Time: Please aim to arrive at approximately 7:45am to allow time for registration, collection of your marshal pack, briefing, and travel to your allocated position.
  • Finish Time: Marshals can expect to stand down between 12:00pm and 1:00pm, depending on where they are positioned on the course and when the final participants have safely passed.
  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Direct runners along the correct route.
  • Help keep participants and members of the public safe at your location.
  • Provide encouragement and a friendly atmosphere for all runners.
  • Report any incidents, hazards, or concerns to Event Control using the contact details provided.
  • Remain at your allocated marshal point until instructed that the final participant has passed and you have been stood down.
  • What We'll Provide:
  • Full event briefing before the event.
  • High-visibility vest.
  • Marshal information pack with maps and key contact numbers.
  • Refreshments and snacks.
  • What to Bring:
  • Clothing suitable for the weather conditions.
  • Comfortable footwear, as you may be standing for several hours.
  • A fully charged mobile phone.
  • Water and any personal items you may need during your shift.
  • No Experience Needed: Full instructions and support will be provided, making this an ideal volunteering opportunity for both new and experienced marshals.

All applicants will be asked to register on the Shelter website and complete our recruitment checks prior to the event.
