We are looking for a reliable and practical volunteer to support our Sue Ryder Downham Market Furniture shop by carrying out Portable Appliance Testing (PAT).
We are looking for a reliable and practical volunteer to support our Sue Ryder Downham Market Furniture shop by carrying out Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) on donated electrical items. This is a really important role that helps us ensure all electrical goods are safe, compliant, and ready to be sold in our shop.
You will help us keep up with the flow of donated electrical stock by testing items regularly, recording results, and making sure only safe, working items reach the shop floor. This directly supports our ability to raise vital funds for Sue Ryder.
No previous PAT testing experience is needed as full training will be provided and funded by the Sue Ryder team. You’ll be fully supported by the shop team and given everything you need to carry out the role confidently and safely.
We are looking for someone who can volunteer 1–2 days per week, with flexibility depending on shop needs and donation levels. This would suit someone who is practical, detail-focused, and enjoys working independently as well as being part of a friendly retail team.
This is a great opportunity to learn a valuable skill, gain accredited training, and make a direct impact on the success of the shop and the support we provide to people in need.
