Join our friendly Sue Ryder Kings Lynn Furniture Shop team and help make a difference in your local community.
Sue Ryder Kings Lynn Furniture Shop is looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to join our welcoming community team. Whether you are looking to gain new skills, build confidence, meet new people, improve your CV, or simply give something back to a worthwhile cause, we would love to hear from you.
We offer flexible volunteering opportunities to suit your availability, and no previous retail experience is needed as full training and support will be provided. Volunteers who give a minimum of 2 hours per shift can also claim support towards travel expenses. After volunteering with Sue Ryder for 12 weeks, volunteers are also entitled to 50% off donated goods as part of our volunteer discount scheme.
Before getting started, we offer an informal taster session. A taster session is a chance for you to come into the shop, meet the team, look around the environment, and try some simple volunteer tasks to see if the role feels right for you. It is relaxed, friendly, and designed to help you feel comfortable before making any commitment. All volunteers also receive a full induction and ongoing support from the shop team.
There are lots of different ways you can get involved in the shop, including:
• Customer Service – welcoming customers, chatting with the local community, and helping create a positive shopping experience.
• Till and Cash Handling – serving customers on the till and learning retail customer service skills.
• Merchandising and Displays – helping create attractive furniture and homeware displays that encourage sales and make the shop look inviting.
• Sorting and Preparing Donations – checking, organising, steaming, cleaning, and preparing donated items ready for sale.
• Pricing Stock – researching and pricing donated goods to help raise vital funds for Sue Ryder’s expert care and bereavement support services.
Volunteering at Sue Ryder is more than just helping in a shop — it is becoming part of a supportive community team where friendships are built, confidence grows, and every contribution makes a real difference. Many of our volunteers enjoy the sense of purpose, teamwork, and belonging that volunteering brings, while developing valuable transferable skills along the way.
