Clerk to Board of Trustees - Voluntary Role


Job Description/Person Specification



Role: Clerk to Board of Trustees

Hours: Up to 3 hours per month (including board meetings every quarter)

Length of Contract: Voluntary role

Place of Work: Home-based

Salary: Unpaid role


Overview of the Post


To ensure the smooth and efficient running of meetings, providing assistance and support to the Chair of the Board of Trustees. 


Responsibilities and Objectives


  • To liaise with the Chair of Trustees to plan, arrange and produce agendas and supporting papers for trustee meetings and AGMs
  • Minute take for Trustees meetings, AGMs and other meetings
  • To ensure that all meetings comply with the requirements of the governing document 
  • Ensuring that trustee decisions are implemented in accordance with the charity’s governing document or other internal operational procedures. 
  • Accurately record decisions and actions in the minutes

Person Specification

Take Our Hand expects all it’s staff and volunteers to be committed to helping young people through their grief. The Clerk to the Board of Trustees will have previous experience in administration and an interest in working for a charity. Though charity governance knowledge would be helpful it is not essential as training will be provided. 



Experience and skills

  • Experience and knowledge of office administration processes
  • Excellent Microsoft Office and document presentation skills
  • Commitment to the charities strategy and a willingness to devote the necessary time
  • An ability to work effectively as a member of a team as well as able to effectively work independently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • A positive and ‘can-do’ outlook
  • Commitment to promoting equality and diversity

About Take Our Hand

We help young people aged 16-25 who are grieving. We do this by providing our bereavement care packages and offering therapy support to those that need it. No two people grieve the same and therefore our support is tailored to the individual.
We help young people move forward with their grief.
