This mini-task is designed to give you a taste of volunteering, and is part of the Big Help Out. The Big Help Out is a nationwide weekend of volunteering and community action from Friday 7th – Sunday 9th June 2024.
A small act of volunteering can make a huge difference!
What does this involve?
Here at The Vegan Society, we have published our Health Economics study - one of our major pieces of research that we worked on during 2023 - with the Office of Health Economics. The research found that 100% adoption of plant-based diets in England could save the NHS around £6.7 billion over a year.

Now, we need help circulating this important work to those in power. Would you write to your MP or local councillor? There are 2 main asks of our MPs:
1. For them to raise it in Parliament or with the public health minister.
2. For them to consider promoting plant-based food options in local public sector settings such as hospitals and schools.
This is a small volunteering activity that you can do from the comfort of your own home.
We will provide guidance in writing your email/letter too, so you're not alone.
Once you apply, we will email you everything you need to do this task.
PS. If you'd love to volunteer with The Vegan Society on a longer term basis, please check out our other volunteering roles here on Get Involved Norfolk.

We also want a just world for humans. A world where resources are utilised in a sustainable way to ensure all current and future generations are provided for - a world where no one goes hungry. At the heart of the sustainability and food justice agenda is plant-based food production and consumption: veganism.
