THH are looking for new people to join our frontline team. Work involves practical support and befriending for isolated and vulnerable indivividuals.

Our existing team of brilliant Thorpe Helping Hands volunteers are all making a real difference in the lives of local residents. This is great, but such is the success of what they do that they are all now fully booked. This means it's difficult for us to take on any new referrals at the moment, which is why we are now looking to grow our our frontline team.

The work is flexible, and usually involves practical support ( accompanying or doing shopping for / with an elderly resident, or helping someone with Alzheimer's have their beloved dog walked, for example) and of course there is plenty of need for befriending individuals who are otherwise very isolated.

Most of the volunteers in our team have busy schedules themselves, with childcare or full or part time jobs but the work here fits in alongside that and we always make sure no one takes on more than they are comfortable with, or tasks they don't feel qualified for. And our work also suits retired people looking for activity in the community.

So if you want to volunteer for a super friendly and professional group based in the local Norwich community and offering much needed support for vulnerable / isolated individuals, we really want to hear from you!

Please drop us a line for more info/ a friendly chat about what we do and what to expect :)

About Thorpe Helping Hands

We are a mutual aid / practical support group based in Thorpe St Andrew which formed during the Covid pandemic. During that time we set up a food bank at the Pilling Park centre, provided practical support and befriending for isolated and vulnerable residents. We also worked with local schools supporting families on free school meals. Today we continue to offer practical and befriending support to residents in the Thorpe St Andrew, Pilling Park and Thorpe Hamlet areas. We are always looking for general volunteers, help with admin or people interested to grow the group so we can help more people, so if you are interested to join us, please get in touch :)
