We are seeking a volunteer Befriender for a client who benefit from regular company and help to rebuild their confidence and increase access to their community.

Detailed description

Vision Norfolk support people living with sight loss across the whole county, we are committed to empowering people to live fulfilling and independent lives.


We are seeking a volunteer Befriender to support a client in the Great Ellingham area. This client would appreciate a volunteer could help them rebuild their confidence and increase their access to the community, they would potentially like to go out on a trip to their local café or garden centre. 


If you can spare a couple of hours a week or fortnight, are friendly and chatty, and are looking for a rewarding and fulfilling volunteering experience, this might be the role for you.


As a Befriender Volunteer for Vision Norfolk you will be part of our Community Outreach Team and will play a valuable role in providing much needed social interaction, and easing the loneliness of isolated adults with sight loss.


This is a purely social role; you will not be required to perform any personal or medical care for you befriendee. 


Our volunteers must be caring, able to communicate well and enjoy meeting new people, whilst helping our clients to remain as independent as possible.

Becoming a volunteer is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference and support your local community.

About Vision Norfolk

We are Norfolk’s charity for people living with sight loss and visual impairment. Providing practical and emotional support at our hubs in Norwich, King’s Lynn and Great Yarmouth and in hospitals across Norfolk. Together with social and well-being activities for adults and children, young people and their families, daily living equipment, befriending services and specialist housing, we help those affected by sight loss to live life fully.
