We are seeking a volunteer Befriender to regularly visit a lady with sight loss for a cup of tea and chat.
If you can spare a couple of hours a week or fortnight, are friendly and chatty, and are looking for a rewarding and fulfilling volunteering experience, this might be the role for you.
As a Befriender Volunteer for Vision Norfolk you will be part of our Community Outreach Team and will play a valuable role in providing much needed social interaction, and easing the loneliness of isolated adults with sight loss.
This is a purely social role; you will not be required to perform any personal or medical care for you befriendee.
Please note that you will need to be able to travel independently to the visit and that all of our visits operate during 9 to 5, Monday to Friday hours.
Our volunteers must be caring, able to communicate well and enjoy meeting new people, whilst helping our clients to remain as independent as possible.
Becoming a volunteer is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference and support your local community.
Vision Norfolk also offers:
Regular advice, support, and training
Payment of out-of-pocket expenses agreed in advance
