Registered Pets as Therapy (PAT) dog and volunteer required at Norwich Community Hospital.Detailed description
As a Registered PAT volunteer, you will make visits with your dog to interact with patients in their rooms or in a ward Day Room.
Role Responsibilities
- Visiting hospital wards/clinics with your dog to interact with patients.
- Assessing the health, temperament and suitability of you dog prior to each hospital visit.
- Liaising with a member of staff upon arrival to identify patients who are unsuitable for dog interaction.
- Confidently engaging with patients and allowing patients to spend time with your dog.
- Providing companionship and emotional support to patients.
Time Commitment
Volunteering for this role involves an ongoing commitment of approximately 1-2 hours per week, usually during weekday afternoons.
You will be supported by your Volunteer Coordinator, who will also support you through your induction and provide ongoing support throughout your time as a volunteer.
All volunteers will need complete a Standard DBS Check and provide two appropriate character references. All volunteers will need to attend our Volunteers’ Induction Session/Training.
