We are seeking suitable volunteers to join our Education Coordinator and support the delivery of outdoor nature based sessions, throughout the year.
Are you passionate about conservation and nature? Can you engage with young people and encourage them to explore? Do you enjoy working with children? If so, we would love to hear from you.
We believe that all young people should have opportunities to discover and connect with nature. The education programme at Mannington is building on a long history of conservation and nature education on this beautiful estate. We are reviving the Mannington Minnows nature group (for children aged 7-11) and are providing nature-focussed visits for primary and secondary school groups.
We are looking to grow a small team of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to assist the Education Coordinator in the delivery of outdoor education sessions. These exciting and informative sessions will be delivered to pupils during school visits, and to children attending Mannington Minnow holiday club in the school holidays. Outdoor learning will take place within the gardens and habitats of the Mannington Estate and will include activities such as pond dipping, habitat surveys, creative activities, species identification, games and learning about the wonderful wildlife which inhabits the area.
Outline of volunteer activities:
- Provide a warm welcome to children and their responsible adults
- Support staff to deliver education sessions including set-up, pack-down and reflection.
- More experienced volunteers may be asked to lead small groups.
- Engage groups of children and their responsible adults in outdoor activities.
- Follow our Safeguarding and Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Raise awareness of other events, education sessions, and volunteering opportunities.
- Undertake a DBS check (organised and paid for by the organisation).
- Commit to regularly attending education sessions.
Personal qualities and experience:
- You have a knowledge of and passion for nature
- You enjoy engaging with children and helping them explore the natural environment. Preferably, you have experience of working or volunteering with children.
- You enjoy being outdoors, in all weathers
- You are reasonably fit; the role will require some degree of physical activity
- You are 18 or above
- You are available mainly on weekdays, and potentially the odd weekend, by request
- You are flexible and adaptable

Time Commitment:
Sessions are bookable in advance. We are looking for volunteer cover for these sessions, on specific dates which will be confirmed with you upon completion of the application process.
