We are looking for 4 volunteers to join the Emergency Response Team based on Coronation Road, Norwich where our marked emergency response vehicle is.
- We support those who have lost their home after a Fire or flood or damage to the building where that family can no longer remain there.
- We support Norfolk Fire and Rescue by attending (at normal speed limits) to those in need with practical support with items of our vehicle or financial support.
- We also provide Psychosocial support or signposting to help in the recovery process and manage the next steps, such as contacting insurance companies or the local council for emergency housing.
You must be located within 30 minutes of Norwich British Red Cross base, Coronation Road, NR6 5HD.
This is a 24-hour service and volunteers will need to be available when on call.
We would like volunteers who;
- Be able to volunteer on a regular basis.
- Can commit to volunteer for at least 4 x 6 hour shifts per month where you will need to be available for call outs.
- Have held a driving licence for at least 2 years which allows you to drive in the UK.
- Be confident driving a manual British Red Cross Ford Ranger, or leased vehicle.
- Are able to attend team meetings in person between 7-9pm on the last Weds of a month.
- Are available to undertake required e-learning modules and online training sessions in the first few months of volunteering plus other service specific trainings as required.
- Can commit to volunteering for at least 12 months.
Due to the nature of this role, applicants must undergo Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check. Applicants will be asked to provide ID documents in support of the DBS check.
